SEASCAPE SAILING ADVENTURES
SO WHY DO WE CALL THESE TRIPS "ADVENTURE SAILING"?
The Med might provide some exciting sailing at times, but we're not exactly crossing any oceans! Our "adventure"tag is there to emphasize that it's a real sailing experience; the freedeom, fun and exhilaration of sailing from island to island - and also the fact that you might sometimes get wet doing it!
It's for people whose travel instinct is to go where the tour buses don't. Sure, we do visit some of the more well-known spots - but we venture way beyond the usual tourist tracks and explore the more isolated islands and villages - places you could only get to by sailboat; or maybe bribing a local fisherman!
What's more, we've been sailing these waters for so many years now that we're just about part of the family on some of these little islands - and the locals always give our Seascape sailors a real warm welcome!
SINGLES AND COUPLES - THE "SHAREBOAT" CONCEPT
It can be hard enough getting a group of people to agree on a date for dinner - let alone organize a complete charter party. And besides, sometimes its good to escape the rut altogether; new places, new faces. Our yachts have a very informal, free n' easy atmosphere where the usual social "barriers" disappear quickly; within days you'll feel like you've known your crewmates for weeks!
But who knows what kind of weirdos we might end up with? That's one of the things that makes us at Seascape unique in Greek sailing; as an owner-operated company, we're living and sailing "in the same boat" as you - literally! So we know exactly how important group dynamics are; and we always do our matchmaking best to put people with similar interest/vacation goals together.
PRIVATE GROUP CHARTERS
Of course, if you want to organize your own group - that's just fine too. Not only can you then share the experience with your own friends/family - but you can set whatever pace or itinerary you like.
Having a Seascape skipper on board isn't just for new sailors - lots of very experienced sailors opt for a local expert on board in these waters. Our skippers aren't just there to sail the boat - they're also your insider connection to the local community and a font of invaluable knowledge about cool places to go that no bareboater would ever know about.
"MOSTLY SINGLES" GROUPS
We know as a single traveler that it's even more important to be with a compatible group - so we always make an extra effort to "matchmake" our singles groups. We're not aiming to play Cupid - but let's face it, if you're single, it's a lot more fun to have other singles to hang out and explore with. Our "mostly singles" sailing trips are scheduled throughout the summer, in both Greece and Turkey.
THE YACHTS
These are our own yachts, directly managed/skippered by the owners - in a culture known more for its laid back ambiance than its maintenance standards, this is a real important factor! Our "Adventure Sailing" yachts are in the 50' range - the perfect size for sailing in these waters; big enough to be very comfortable, but not too big to fit into some of the snug anchorages around the islands. Both have accommodations for up to 8 guests in 4 separate cabins, with 4 heads. They are modern, sloop -rigged boats, designed specifically for Mediterranean sailing conditions - ie, plenty of light and ventilation. They're beamy, built for comfort yachts - not exactly racing machines, but they sure give us some exhilarating 8-knot plus sails at times.
YOUR CREW
We're an assorted mix of English, Australian and Americans, each holding commercial captain's and instructor licenses. We all know these waters inside and out and can introduce you to some great local buddies of ours too. We're not just there to sail the boats, but to give you an "insider" experience; a taste of the "real" culture away from the homogenizing effects of mass tourism.
If you'd like to learn more about sailing - we're more than happy to teach you; whether you're a total landlubber, or an already experienced sailor who wants to get more of a taste of the cruising lifestyle - or maybe prepare for a bareboating license.
AND IF YOU'VE NEVER SAILED BEFORE?
Not a problem! Probably about 40% of our clients haven't a clue about sailing when they first turn up on the dock. Want to learn? That's great - we'd love to pass on the sailing bug that bit us!
There's no obligation to pull on ropes if you don't want to however - if you'd prefer to veg out and be a total deck potato - that's fine too.
OLD SALTS
Hey, you experienced sailors are also more than welcome to take as much part in the sailing of the yacht as you'd like. Our skippers will be quite happy to take a break and hand over the helm for a while...
CRUISING ITINERARIES
Most days will see us setting sail for a new island or anchorage; usually around 3 hours on the water - plenty of time to explore ashore. Our routes take us to a real variety of places - from a tiny, isolated fishing village one day to the bright lights of a modern-day port the next.
